The condition
Caltron participated in a facility-wide survey with the structural engineer after roof members showed distress. The review found areas carrying loads significantly beyond the intended condition. Rooftop and suspended equipment – including cooling and air-filtration systems supporting high-strength-steel operations – had accumulated on the existing mid-century structure.
The construction strategy
The response combined temporary support with phased permanent reinforcement. Work was organized by quadrants so stabilization and strengthening could proceed while the owner protected essential production. Field conditions, access, existing utilities and equipment clearances had to be verified continuously.
